    IMPORTANT NOTE: Everyone attending the IATSE Local 122 Winter Workshop must be wearing proper SDCC Identification Badges at all times and must enter through the Contractor Entrance between the loading dock entrances. If you do not have an SDCC Identification Badge, you must allow time to check in at the security office and obtain a temporary badge. This will not be an excuse for late arrival.

     

    Materials:

    All attendees are expected to bring a pencil and notebook to all classes. A USB thumb drive is also required for video classes, and should be available to gain materials at all other classes. Some classes have additional prerequisites and material requirements.

    Wednesday, December 13. 8:00am - 10:00am. Room 30DE

    Being a steward is one of the most important jobs IATSE 122 asks our members to do. The steward acts as the business representative on the job site and is responsible for Employer/Employee relations. The steward keeps track of payroll for the employees on the job site and makes sure the terms of the collective bargaining agreement are properly attended. This class is designed to help stewards understand the responsibility and tools for this position.

This class will give you tips on how to budget your money in this volatile income industry. You will get advice on managing a family and a job with non-traditional hours.     Local 122's Rigging Skill Stations 2017

    Max Class Size: 63 (7 Groups, 9 students per group)

    Required Materials: Pencil and Notebook

     

    DESCRIPTION: Rigging Skills Stations is an 8 station “circuit training” style instruction where every hour the student group moves to another station. Each station deals with a specialized area of rigging instruction. You will be issued a skills checklist to be completed by the instructor in each station.

     

    Completing this class is a prerequisite for Lift Driver's Training available December 13-4

     

    You will be called to confirm your attendance the week prior to the class.  WARNING! After you are confirmed via phone (or text message) from the hall, this will be treated like any other call. You will be expected to attend, on time, with all necessary gear (including note paper and pencil). If you are not signed in by 8 AM, your spot will be given to someone on standby, and any lateness or no-show will be reported to the hall.

    Local 122's Boom Lift Driver's Training 2017

    DESCRIPTION: This training has a prerequisite of completing the Rigging Skills Stations training. (2013-16 students are ready to go!) Lift Driver’s Training is a 4 hour class split into 2 sections. There will be a ground class followed by a short written test. The remaining 2 hours students will be guided through an obstacle course including: specific driving and boom tasks, close proximity drills, complicated access drills, driving on carpet, crushable slaloms, proper channel clearing “hole hogging” (with SDCC approval), and beam bagging procedures. All students that complete all tasks in the 2 hour course (with instructor approval) and the written exam will be issued a “Local 122 Aerial Lift Driver’s License”. This card will expire 3 years after issue date.

     

    Students must be physically able to perform rigging tasks  and have no health issues that would prevent them from safely operating heavy machinery.  If you have a proper fall arrest setup, please bring your kit with you. If you do not have a harness, one will be provided for you. All efforts will be made to fill the slots by a first-come first-serve basis. You will be called to confirm your attendance the week prior to the class. WARNING! After you are confirmed via phone (or text message) from the hall, this will be treated like any other call. If you are not signed in by the starting time of your slot, your spot will be given to someone on standby, and any lateness or no-show will be reported to the hall.

     

    Size limit for each group is 5 people. The first group of each day is reserved for stagehands with 2+ years of lift experience (will drive first, then do written test at 10AM). The other 3 groups are open to all stagehands who have completed the  Rigging Skills Stations training.
